  To Kristen O., They're horses, not an amusement ride. They're animals who instinctively in fear/panic will do what they have to protect themselves. As herd animals, one horse runs most likely so will the others. I'm sorry I even had to read your post about this place. I'm glad you didn't go there and went somewhere else. Try to think about what that company has to go through with idiots bringing every single gadget with them, someone gets thrown, its the company's fault cause you dropped your water bottle and it hit the horse on the shoulder, scares him, and he's off bucking. Two hours without water? I think you would've lived. If the horses are being abused then by all means report this company. I think it should be noted however that the company cares and knows enough about horse behavior to know how to protect the riders as best they can by providing those rules (all barns have rules to protect the people, not the horses) to prevent a situation where a horse could spook.

• Review of "Big Sur Stone House" at Big Sur

  My first visit to The Stone House was a few days ago. The chef I’m working with, Sarda Desmond and I did a site walk for a wedding we’re helping with this Summer. Ana was delightful!! She walked us around, told bits of story, made suggestions, and was overall a generous, thoughtful hostess!! The house and grounds were very well kept. Ana’s sense for decor and object placement is at once classy and refined while still being warm and inviting. The drive is stunning, giving one plenty of time to relax into the pace you’ll want stay at during your time in South Coast. Off the beaten path just enough to keep its magic, The Stone House is a hidden gem to be sure!!
